Gameplay and getting going

I haven't written for a while prefereing to play the game but the recent events have had really disturbing consequences.

It appears that desire for money has taken over the desire for a sense of community in Runescape.

People who regularly read my posts will know that I can always see the reasoning behind jagex's updates wether I like them or not,  I have got to a stage where I can see the short term reasoning but the long term is very disturbing

 

Pking in the wilderness

Lets start with the return of the wilderness as a pking area, there is not a problem with this as it stands, people do not need to go to the wilderness, there are wilderness clues but you do not need to do them, if you choose to do them and you die it was your choice, wilderness clues were about when there was pking in the wilderness before so I do not see it as a problem, the main problem with the wilderness is the return of hate, people killed in the wilderness wanting revenge for their killer, people wanting people dead for their items.

Return of free trade

This is where the problems start, this is necessary with the return of the wilderness and killing for the drops, you need to be able to trade freely so people who wish to exchange items that are not balanced in value can do it safely without resulting to being killed in the wilderness with the possability of being pile jumped.

Problem number 1, Real World Trading and bots, Jagex say they have this undercontrol, I know that, you know that and Jagex know that, unfortunately the bots do not! there are an abundance of bots all over the place, hard luck resource collecting skillers your profits are being reduced by bots working for RWT'ers. I was amazed to see a RWT'ing site having a countdown to free trade, I guess they have more faith in their ability to get the resources to sell than jagex have at stopping them.

Problem number 2, Scamming, where can I start, people are certainly making up for the loss of scamming time, the GE is full of scammers, scammers fighting for trade and even a new scamming area set up at the front of the GE, quitting RS follow me for 10m or claws or ags, follow over this wall, win 10m trust game, flower game win claws 200k bet, the flower scam has really taken off, people fighting over space to plant their flowers at the front of the GE, at a random time there were 6 lurers, 3 trust trade scammers all touting for trade, you may think its OK only a fool will fall for it, think again there are many new players, many young players who may not be aware of the scams as well as the greedy and gullible.

 

 

Account theft

There is cash to be made out of players accounts, either selling the account or the contents, people get hacked by carelessness but this does not give people the right to take their account, there are many people getting their accounts hacked, people I know and people in my clan, free trade has made this business now and it will only get worse.

The final nail in their coffin

Removing the profanity filter, ok you can have it on or off so people have the choice, how many people will have it on, I would like to bet its the adults who have it on, adults realise that it is not nice to have swear words banded about all over the place, adults realise it is not big to use obscene words out of context, who will not have it on? children, children think its big to swear, I have read on forums that younger players think Jagex have started to treat them like adults because they are allowed to swear, unfortunately they will only realise this is not the case when they have children of their own and they are competing with their school friends, facebook other online communities and now Runescape to try and bring them up in a civilised sociably acceptable manner.

Buy back accounts

Jagex has given convicted botters the chance to pay to get their accounts back, where will this stop, what offence will you not be able to slip Jagex a back hander to get back?

Conclusion

Jagex have reintroduced scamming with free trade and hate in the form of all world  pking, they have also given the ability to tell the pker / scammer what they think of them, the scammer / pker has the ability to report them for the use of inapropriate language and get them banned or muted, Jagex need to make it clear is the degradation of the community total or not, they have given you the ability to break the rules should they be able to ban / mute players if they use that ability.

Jagex have made a game that parents will no longer want their children to play.

Are the Rules of Runescape rules or are they just a guideline that the nasty or wealthy can ignore or exploit?

 

The effect on my gameplay

I will continue to play, I do not like the way it has turned to near anarchy but I am a mature player and know how to avoid the scams  and ignore idiots, I have told my son that he must keep the profanity filter on, if he does not and I find out he will be banned for a week, I will no longer recomend it to friends as a child friendly game to play.

I love this bit

As a mark that you have brought Runescape to an all time low you will be imortilisedin in some artwork, how about the people who tried to save it do we get a mention too.
