Granite prices on Runescape. another exciting chapter in the summoning story
You may remember my post about the fastest way to train summoning by using granite, there was a down side in the fact that it was very expensive because you could not do anything with the end product, scrolls, scrolls had no resell value and could only be used by yourself, sold to a general store or dropped. luckily I did neither and now you can trade your scrolls for shards which makes it a very fast way to train and you get shards back, I haven't checked the economics for trading scrolls for shards but I got 50K shards from the scrolls I have made already, I am happy with that it makes training using the power method a lot cheaper.
A little side note I had thousands of stone artefacts collected from pyramid plunder when I got 99 thieving, it took so long taking to Simon Templeton at the agility pyramid even using the crack in the wall that I dropped them, a little while later Jagex changed it so I could have taken them noted, They didn't catch me with the scrolls they changed it before I dropped them.
Anyway back to the story when I started making Granite Lobsters the cost of Granite 500g blocks was over 1k and I bought 2K, only wanted 1k not sure how I ended up with 2k but that's a different story.
Since you can make 2kg and 5kg blocks into 500g blocks the price started to drop, there was a rush of low level miners mining 5kg blocks and selling them on GE, at its initial price of over 10k a block the 5kg blocks were popular with miners, more valuable than rune, very fast respawn rate and minable by low level miners, I saw many a player selling the blocks and making millions for a few hours work, unfortunately with the demand being low and the miner numbers being high the price plummeted and has only just stopped dropping at 157 gp normal 150 bottom, it may continue to fall but at current price it is stable.

Look at the price prior to chopping blocks 500g was 1k
You can now buy 5kg that can be chopped into 10 x 500g blocks for 150gp that's 15gp for 500g.
a drop from 1k to 15gp after 1 update over a short period of time.
The 500g is now 84gp normal price, this may remain higher due to its convenience in not needing to chop.
I bought enough granite to get 99 summoning, I may buy some as an investment, as stock diminishes the price may well go back up, as people get onto the idea that chopping on site and converting to pouches then scrolls is a quick way of training summoning and with the scrolls to shards update I can see it being "the way" to train.
Now you can see why charms are not tradable, had they been, the most determined and wealthy players could have 99 summoning in a very short space of time.
The best way to train on Runescape is........
You will always have people telling you the best way to train certain skills! a lot of the time it is a well know way to train and accepted as the best way by many people, does this make it the best way to train?
Scenario
You may well be chopping at a Yew tree, your wood cutting level is 65 and your getting a few logs and xp is going up, a player comes along with a wood cutting cape and tells you that Yews are carp at your level and you should be cutting willows! is he correct?
I will answer that for you, no he is not correct! although it is a fact the xp will go up quicker at willows it does not necessarily mean it is the best way for you to train wood cutting, the best way is the way you want to train! cutting Yews are slow at 65 but if you are happy training there getting your logs and xp then that is a great way, you may want logs for fletching or burning or to sell and make money, you may not want to keep banking your willow logs all the time, you may just want to chop and chat.
I am 90 agility, I train at Brimhaven agility course and have done for most of my agility levels, people often ask me why I am training there, my answer is "I like easy" the times I have been told it is quicker at Ape Atoll or wildy course, it may well be quicker at Ape Atoll but its not better, I find it boring going round in circles aimlessly, I guess that is why I hate Runecrafting, Brimhaven allows me to set a goal of a certain amount of tickets and I can try and beat people to the next ticket machine, this gives me a target and a drive to get there, if you are training with a friend or there is another character in hot pants there is another reason to race around the arena, I have said before and I will say again I would be the same agility level as the people who suggest other places had it not been for Brimhaven.
I am always listing ways to train on my blog posts, these are the ways I find easy, they may not suit you but its often a good idea to try the ways I recommend, have a look at other sites and blogs and try their methods or you can just go and train the way you like, there is no best way to train anything on Runescape, if a player has 99 in any particular skill it doesn't mean they know the best way to train only you can know that.
Runescape circus Ringmaster clothing, just a few tips
The Runescape Ringmaster outfit is the new outfit to have, very popular for woodcutting and mining and general leisurely activities, I had the hat a while ago and been desperate to get the rest, I will probably never have reason to wear it but I like to have it available in case do.
The way I got it was a lot easier than most guides I see but with all Runescape stuff a lot of luck is involved.
Last week I went for the Ring Master outfit I wore the appropriate armour for the role, Armadyl for the range, Ahrims for the mage and BOL, spottier cape for agility, I potted and went for the lower level targets and failed some, in fact I failed many, so wearing appropriate armour or potting does not help, the circus has not been around long enough to test it and make a correct conclusion but the fact that I have 99 in mage and range and failed the easy tasks is enough for me.
Yesterday the Circus was by the wizards tower, the Ringmaster suggests wearing stuff appropriate for the location so I wore my Ahrims, Ancient staff and the mage boots that are multi coloured (The name escapes me at the mo will edit later).
I went inside and decided to do the range one first, I picked up the knives and throwing axes, and stood near the popinjays, I started by doing an emote, the audience were pleased, I for some reason did another emote and again they were pleased, (bless them easily pleased) I kept doing emotes and they were pleased with all of them, after about 15 emotes I stopped and clicked on the level 99 popinjays, result it hit the target and they liked it, I did an emote and the message saying "I have done enough emotes already came up", this basically means you can do all your emotes at the start of the game and don't need to keep swapping through the performance, It also reduces the chance of you repeating an emote. from then on I swapped to my other weapon and did the spinning wheel target and hit it, the audience were well impressed, from then on I swapped weapons and went to and from the 99 popinjays and the 99 spinning wheel only missing once, the result was the Ring Master top.
I went to the mage one and did all my emotes up front, starting at the top and working my way across and down my list of emotes, I then decided to use alternate cast telegrab and alchemy on the level 90 and 99 items, many of my spells missed and I only got 700 points, I have full clown and acrobat so nothing for me on that one.
Agility was my next attempt, I climbed up and grabbed a hand full of chinchompas, started the test and walked onto the wire, I did all my normal emotes up front the same as the mage and range ones, I did the level 99 back flip, then the 90 large leap then again the back flip, the audience didn't like the second back flip so I got out the chinnies and juggled them, then did a back flip, they were happy then, I alternated between the juggling chinnies and the back flips and they were happy, the result a pair of Ring Master trousers.
A pair of shoes and a trumpet and I will have the full set, then I need to start failing to get the spectator clothing, I really want that hand.
There is a lot of luck with the circus not just skill levels, the best part is that you can do the normal emotes before doing other tasks to save switching between the two.
Good luck getting your outfit.

Power Leveling Summoning from level 74
Jagex have given permission to Power train summoning, but don't get to excited you need to be level 74 and relatively wealthy, you are looking at about 50k xp per 10 minutes (Could be quicker never timed it) 300k xp per hour.
The secret is to have 5kg blocks of granite, currently just under 3k per block and dropping daily, kit yourself up with crimson charms, pouches, shards, a chisel and tele runes if flying and 20 or so blocks of 5 Kg granite.

Tele or walk to the obelsik and use the chisel on the granite to make smaller blocks, you get a mixture of 2kg and 500g blocks, if you have room cut some 2k blocks as well, click on the obelisk and make some granite lobsters.

At this stage I put some granite lobster pouches in my spirit terror bird for safe keeping, you can do this or use the next stage and use a granite pouch on the obelisk, you can click the obelisk if you want and select make scrolls but its quicker to use the pouch on it, turn all your pouches into scrolls, you then have a clear inventory to cut your granite again and repeat making pouches and then scrolls.

I went there today with a load of granite and on one trip made 50k summoning xp, I also gained a level, 82 summoning now.
The following pictures show my summoning xp before and after a single power summoning trip 52,607 in 1 go, I could have loaded up a war tortoise with granite blocks and made almost 100k xp in 1 go, 13 trips to get from level 98 to 99 summoning in 2 hours, that is some serious xp, you just got to get the charms.

This method does not help you get charms but it shows you the fastest way to train summoning, I will add a guide to getting charms later, now I have 99 slayer I will be able to spend more time doing what I want, I love slayer so I will probably still be doing that.
This method is expensive, you turn the pouches into scrolls that are difficult to sell, you can not trade the pouches for shards with the ogre guy so all money spent is lost, if you have the money and want quick xp this is certainly the way to go.
