Granite prices on Runescape. another exciting chapter in the summoning story
You may remember my post about the fastest way to train summoning by using granite, there was a down side in the fact that it was very expensive because you could not do anything with the end product, scrolls, scrolls had no resell value and could only be used by yourself, sold to a general store or dropped. luckily I did neither and now you can trade your scrolls for shards which makes it a very fast way to train and you get shards back, I haven't checked the economics for trading scrolls for shards but I got 50K shards from the scrolls I have made already, I am happy with that it makes training using the power method a lot cheaper.
A little side note I had thousands of stone artefacts collected from pyramid plunder when I got 99 thieving, it took so long taking to Simon Templeton at the agility pyramid even using the crack in the wall that I dropped them, a little while later Jagex changed it so I could have taken them noted, They didn't catch me with the scrolls they changed it before I dropped them.
Anyway back to the story when I started making Granite Lobsters the cost of Granite 500g blocks was over 1k and I bought 2K, only wanted 1k not sure how I ended up with 2k but that's a different story.
Since you can make 2kg and 5kg blocks into 500g blocks the price started to drop, there was a rush of low level miners mining 5kg blocks and selling them on GE, at its initial price of over 10k a block the 5kg blocks were popular with miners, more valuable than rune, very fast respawn rate and minable by low level miners, I saw many a player selling the blocks and making millions for a few hours work, unfortunately with the demand being low and the miner numbers being high the price plummeted and has only just stopped dropping at 157 gp normal 150 bottom, it may continue to fall but at current price it is stable.

Look at the price prior to chopping blocks 500g was 1k
You can now buy 5kg that can be chopped into 10 x 500g blocks for 150gp that's 15gp for 500g.
a drop from 1k to 15gp after 1 update over a short period of time.
The 500g is now 84gp normal price, this may remain higher due to its convenience in not needing to chop.
I bought enough granite to get 99 summoning, I may buy some as an investment, as stock diminishes the price may well go back up, as people get onto the idea that chopping on site and converting to pouches then scrolls is a quick way of training summoning and with the scrolls to shards update I can see it being "the way" to train.
Now you can see why charms are not tradable, had they been, the most determined and wealthy players could have 99 summoning in a very short space of time.
