A money making motivational mention from a minor

I have a son who plays Runescape, he is only 9 and doesn't have the patience to stick at a skill for a long time, because of this he doesn't get a great deal of Runescape money to spend and gets frustrated because he doesn't know how to look after his cash when he has it.
He is very kind and before the GE he would often give stuff to people just because they asked him for it, he never regrets giving stuff away but gets upset when he has nothing and he wants to buy something.

He had the idea to go to the HAM headquarters and pick pocket the HAM guards under the trapdoor that you get access to after starting Death to the Dorgeshuun quest, if you pick pocket the Guards by the store rooms you can get keys, these keys open chests and you can get prizes from the chests, cash gems and jewellery are common prizes, Daniel sells the Jewellery at the local shop and can get a lot of cash for it, one of the prizes was a clue scroll.
I watched him as he did the clue and at the end he got a spiked helmet and some other bits and pieces, he was a bit disappointed because the helm looks a bit nooby, I told him to stick it on geBay and see what he got for it, he did and got 302K for it very quickly, that soon cheered him up and he bought full rune and a D scimmy, now he could train his slayer easier.

He trained slayer with his new armour and weapon and managed to get Jellies 3 times in a row, on his second task he got a clue, Level 3, I watched him as he did the clue, he was a bit nervous at entering the wildy because of the revenants but luckily all went well and he never saw any, he had the last casket ready to open and when he opened it there were 2 Saradomin blessed dragonhide body armours, he took them to GE and was amazed that they sold for about 740k each, he now had enough to buy a whip.

This is a Rags to Riches story of someone who really deserved a good drop, the same can happen to you.

Party Pete drop party 54 million

I was training my summoning and as I returned to the bank to get my granite blocks I saw announced that there was a 54 million drop part at the party room, I have seen drop parties for 200k up to 10m and not seen one worth visiting since the anti pking and RWT trade cap protests so I thought I would pop along and take a look, I used the tele that the banker offer you instead of walking the few block to the party room (I was in Fally).

I arrived to see thousands of people all stood around hoping to get some of the bounty, lag was bad as you could imagine but I wandered around waiting for the drop to start, lag was getting worse but I guessed everyone would be in the same situation so it would still be fair, the countdown started to reach zero, I was stood ready to click and as zero was reached the computer froze, no one moving the picture still there not resorting back to the login screen as it should if logged out so I took a screenie.

Party Pete Pileup

There were my hopes of becoming a millionaire dashed in an instant, fighting back the tears :D I logged back in after restarting Swiftkit and it was all over and I returned to summoning.

From this experience I learnt that Party Pete is perhaps a crook and uses the Party Room to swindle disillusioned players out of their hard earned cash, he collects their cash and logs everyone out so he can sell the proceeds to finance his lavish lifestyle, I suspect he learnt this from the noobs who kicked players from their houses when they were poisoned or dropped items on the floor when construction was first introduced.

Runescape high value monster drop rates

before Jagex introduced the anti scam and RWT update it was not unusual to have a low level player asking for a whip when I was killing Abyssal Demons, my normal reply was sorry just alched my last whip drop or I will leave the next one on the floor for you, these players thought that whip drops were a common drop, the reality is they once were a common drop but have had their drop rate reduced considerably.

When I first got 85 slayer many many moons ago I went to the abyssal space and had a slaughter fest on the Abyssal Demons, the first time I went there I had 2 whips and a shield left half in about an hour, following tasks I had at least 1 whip when fighting the demons sometimes 2, it was indeed rare not to get a whip drop, I even sent a friend of mine off to world 2 Fally to sell my whips for me some 23 whips, this is when they were worth 3 to 4m each, how many people can trust a friend like that?

All of a sudden I could have many tasks and not get a whip drop, there was widespread rumours that whip drops had been nurfed and my experience certainly backed that claim up.
We all know that Runescape good drops are random and you can have a good day and a bad day but the change really was dramatic and noticeable.

The other day I had a slayer task for Abyssal Demons and I had a whip drop, my next task was the same Abyssal Demons, two of the same monster tasks in a row has only been possible since the recent update to slayer but guess what? I got another whip drop, a few days later I had Dark Beasts and guess what I got a Dark Bow drop, when the Dark Bow was first introduced I spent all day there and never got a bow, the following day I got a Dark Bow as my second kill, in those days slayer tasks for Dark Beasts was 9 to 19 beasts, now you can have as many as 199, they are easy to kill but require prayer to stay any length of time, on my task I killed 3/4 of my task and got a Dark Bow, I had to leave to get more prayer pots and came back and guess what? I got another Dark Bow, has the drop rate been increased or was I just lucky?
You may remember a while ago I had two Draconic Visages 1 from black and 1 From steel Dragons and a Zammy hilt when I soloed K'ril at God Wars in a 2 week period, so luck does appear to come in batches.

I have also recently had a Dragon Spear and a Shield Left Half, I could be back on one of my lucky streaks, having said that the shield left half sold for about 60k, the last one I had was worth 700K, last time I checked the Dragon Square Shield was worth less than the cost of the shield right half so I sold the half shield.

I personally don't mind poor drop rates, I would sooner have a few drops worth a lot of money than a lot of drops worth a little.

Has anyone else noticed a difference or am I just lucky?

I have 180 Dark Beasts tonight so I will let you know if I get any good drops.

Smoking Kills, the Runescape quest

Link: http://www.roycastle.org/kats/intro.htm

Hmmm the global warming quest last time and smoking quest this time, are Runescape trying to give us subliminal messages.

Anyway the quest was quite fun, a walk in the park for me but for lower level players could be quite a struggle, you need protection from melee mage and range monsters I was adequately protected from all with my torags and for the last battle I needed protection from range prayer as well.

The quest was short and did not involve any unnecessary walking just how I like them.

This is the result, Shut your eyes if you dont want to see it.

have a look at this picture and see if you can spot the not so obvious mistake.

I will give you a clue, do we have a new spell coming?

Its a fact that smoking kills many people, in fact one out of 2 smokers will die prematurely because of their habit, if both of your parents smoke have a guess which one will die early then wait and see if you guessed correctly, for more information and scary facts click here.

Runescape monster database, your help needed.

You may have noticed my monster database, you may have noticed there are only half a dozen monsters in it, the problem is there are so many monsters and so few hours in the day.

I would like to make an exhaustive database of monster information, this is something all the fan sites lack in 1 area or another, I want to bridge this gap but I need your help.

If you have any information about monsters I would love to hear from you, I want to know everything from details how to get there, what their max hit is, special weakness, drops, requirements to kill and killing techniques.

I will start posts with just the monster name and you can add comments, I will review and add the comment, I will then add them to the initial post when I have sufficient time and information.

If there is a monster that I have not yet added a heading for, put the monster name and details as an attachment to this post and I will add a heading for that monster.

Remember I want all information no matter how small so we have the one stop shop for all monster details.
