The bunnynip is a HUGE help for training slayer, you can stay much longer at a given task with it there.

All I can say about the lack of using summoning critters, is, That for so long, most players have been without summoning to train and thus, they are simply not used to it. It will take time, as I feel more and more people will start using these.

Summon (after the update) has massive advantages, the unsung hero of summon is the Bunyip, not only can you eat raw fish drops as its special but it constantly heals you 2 hp every minute or so. This may not be a great advantage when fighting at gwd as they hit to had for that 2 hp to matter, but doing slayer I now don’t even take guthans with me ... yes it makes that much of a difference.
Talking of GWD ever thought of taking a Fruit bat with you.... no??? Why not its special goes and gets you fruit that you can eat like papaya, which heals 8hp each!!! And the scrolls stack!! So you can kill the boss.. Special from your fruit bat and get full hp and more fruit in your invent.
There are lots of little ways to get the best from your summon creatures, Its all about knowing how to get the best from them.

As one of the many who doesn't have a summoned creature tagging along, I can say that 90% of the summoning familiars don't interest me. The ones that do are foragers and beasts of burden.

Of the ones I've tried out, the foragers either 1) don't gather anything I can use/sell or 2) don't gather anything frequently enough. The stranger plant, for instance, can produce strange fruit which I love to use to boost my run energy, yet it will only produce 0-1 fruit in 40+ minutes. So far, I like the granite lobster as it fishes up sharks and swordfish which I sell, so it pretty much pays for itself.

As for the BoB, I don't have much use for them except during runecrafting when carrying more essence means gaining exp faster. Unfortunately, only 2 familiars will carry essence and good luck getting the abyssal charms to make them. I received 1 abyssal charm after killing 300 abyssal leeches.

Kitt if you take a canon to the abyss you get many abyssal charms, in fact you can set the canon going fill up with charms, bank and return leaving the canon there, you will get 2 charms from some monster drops, I try to avoid the leeches if I can because they cause too much damage and don't drop much.
