Runescape Game Play

I have introduced this category to help the players new to Runescape, my first post will define the difference between the term noob and newb, trust me there is a huge difference, after reading this post you will hopefully learn which of the two you are (If any) and how to deal with players who call you a noob or other names.

Many people have different understanding of the word noob, most have the same opinion that the word noob is not a good thing to be, some people will get upset if they are called a noob, if someone calls me a noob it doesn't bother me, I don't call them names back I don't add them to my iggy list I just ignore them and carry on what im doing.

The word noob
Many moons ago the word noob meant new player, you come off of tut island and you are a noob, being called a noob was not an insult and you just accepted being a noob as a way to describe you in general.
Over the years the word has changed meaning and now is a player who does stupid things to annoy another player, such as deliberately picking up another players arrows to keep them, stealing another players monster when they have been training for a long time on it, setting up a cannon in a busy area etc.
Most of the things people are called noobs for are not against the rules just not nice things to do, so generally a player who fits the category as a noob is a selfish player.

High level noobs
There are high level noobs, some (but not many) high level players think they are great and better than anyone lower than them, they call people noobs just because they are lower levels, this section is brought about after reading a post that Vaskor highlighted in his Runescape Readers Digest where a group of level 99 slayers took screenies of people training slayer in a non efficient way, post it on their forum for people to comment and laugh at, this is a group of high level noobs and I wont be joining them any time soon despite being 600k away from 99 slayer at present, anyone who laughs at low level players because of their lack of experience automatically inherit the title of NOOB.

The word newb
The word newb replaces the word Noob as the general term of a new player, it is not an insult just a term.

Dealing with being called a noob
Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me, this is a saying that I was told when I was a child and it is so true, if someone calls you a noob does that make you a noob? if someone calls you a tw@ does that make you one? I can answer that for you NO!!! NO!!! it does not, being called an idiot does not make you an idiot, being called a name does not hurt you.

If you do something stupid that annoys someone it may cause them to insult you, if it was your fault just saying "sorry" will make them feel better and you feel better, it may make them feel sorry for insulting you and a "np" from them should clear the air, you may even develop a friendship from it, it is not easy to say sorry but it is such a powerful word that can save friendships, relationships and unpleasantness, if you are strong enough to say sorry then you have a very powerful advantage in life.

If you don't do anything wrong and someone insults you, you may choose to insult them back, what will this prove? nothing!! it may escalate and end up trading insults and either or both of you may get reported and banned, the easiest way to deal with it is to ignore it and carry on, if they continue to insult you and you cant ignore it either change world or put them on your ignore list, this may feel, that they have won but it really shows that you are mature enough to deal with things in a civilised manner.

If someone calls you a noob because you are a low level player, you can ignore it or you can ask them if they were never your level, you can even say yes what is the best way to train to get to your level.

The important thing is to not start retaliating and get yourself banned.
