How can you not make money on Runsecape?
I am forever seeing people asking how to make money on Runescape, I pose an even more difficult question, how can you not make money on Runescape?
Not so easy in f2p but can still be very profitable with a bit of observation.
Playing the other day I decided to make some of the extreme potions, I had plenty of super sets (3)'s and some of the secondary ingredients, lantadyme, Dwarf weed and Avantoe for the melee pots, I made my pots and used them, yep they are as great as they would appear boosting all my combat stats to 125, hitting up to 44 with my whip and a wolpertinger hitting up to 22 in multi combat areas slayer tasks just fly through.
Looking into making some more pots I had a look on the Grand Exchange and wooooah, scary the price as you would expect has shot up, lantadyme just under 4K, Avantoe just under 2K and Dwarf Weed just over 6K and still rising, if you want cash this is an easy way to make it, kill cave crawlers at relleka dungeon or chaos druids at taverly they drop almost constant herbs, people chop yews for cash, at the moment yew logs sell for 475 gp the cheapest herb sells for 388gp that being tarromin and closely followed by Guam at 448gp, I can kill a cave crawler a lot quicker than I can get a yew log and stand the chance of getting a herb worth as much as 9K, that gives me the question why do people still chop for cash? admittedly ranaar are not very common unless at smellies (aberrant spectres) but you can expect to get a few Dwarf Weeds, Irits and most of the other herbs when killing the above mentioned monsters.
Unfortunately because the price has shot up if you want to use the herbs for the potions you have to pay the price, it is not cheaper for you to collect them than pay for them in GE, just because you dont sell them doesnt mean they have no value, If I buy a ranaar in GE it costs me 9k, If I kill a cave crawler and get a ranaar its not free but has a value of 9K so I can go on GE and have 9K cash, the only difference is you dont need the money up front if you collect them yourself, if your short of cash that makes a difference but if you have plenty you may prefer the herblore XP to the time spent killing monsters. this choice that us wealthy players have is the very cause of the price going up and the ability of lower level players to make cash.
This price increase is caused by the recent update to herblore and may or may not stay as high as it is, normally after the demand there is a slight drop in price but herbs have and always will be a good money spinner for people who want cash and happy to do some work for it.
Although this update has made a difference for lower level players with herblore the same happens for most other updates, the recent limited stock at shops has made the price of arrows shoot up this gives lower level players the oportunity to make arrows getting mining, smithing and fletching xp and making a profit, the price of water filled viles went up, high level players dont want to waste time making them so the lower level players can benefit.
Every update affects something, sometimes just short term others long term but there will always be ways for low level players to make cash from new and old methods you just need to look at the GE and the updates that are released.
Quests offer ways for people to make cash, the hand in the sand quest gives you the oportunity to get 82 buckets of sand every day, they sell on GE for about 15k very quickly, buying pinapples at catherby and selling them gives a good amount of cash and battle staves from Zafff at varrock, killing normal monsters and selling the talismans and runes can bring in some cash not just herbs, chopping trees and fishing brings in some decent cash even at low levels.
So the heading of my post How can you not make money on Runescape ?
