I was given the status of a player moderator, I then had it taken away through no fault of my own and they have apologised.

I was given a very privileged position and I will not abuse my knowledge that I have gained through being in that situation.

I can however give you my opinion on how I believe I was selected to become a mod.

You need to understand what Jagex are looking for when assessing a potential mod.

You need to to know and understand the Runescape Rules, some rules may not seem to make sense but the rules have had a lot of thought put into them and when given a lot of thought you can understand them too.

You should stand by the rules even the ones you do not like or understand, you should also be seen to stick by the rules by advising others and reporting any offense you see happening. you do not need to report lots of people just make sure that when you report it is a valid offense.

Another way to get their attention is to use the forums and reply to some of the questions showing that you understand the rules, for example there was a message in suggestions to make it easier to stop scamming by adding a delay to the second trade screen, I said that Jagex give enough tools to prevent scamming and that people should get banned for a week for not using these tools and getting scammed as it encourages scammers.

They will monitor your actions and I believe they tested`me before offering my crown, I was at the tree gnome stronghold thieving from the gnomes and a newb comes up to me and asks where Daro is, I gave him directions and he went off and came back saying he couldn't find him I gave him more directions and he want away and came back still not found him, he asked if I could take him so I did.

Another time I was thieving and about 3 people all asked me what I got from gnomes at the same time and another started to kill the gnomes I was thieving, I just left instead of calling him a noob and went to another place, he followed there and I went back to my original place.

You may think that mods are able to report more offenses than you as a normal player, this is not true you as a player can report things that a mod can not, they can however mute a player if he is in a situation that is detrimental to other players, they will not normally mute people who do not deserve it but mistakes can happen and Jagex will reverse it very quickly if it is not deserved.

Jagex rules do make sense, they are there to help you as a good player, you need to understand them and the reasoning behind them to become a mod.

I have met many people who are mods that should not be and I have reported them, Jagex monitor them regularly and will demod if seen fit.
