Elemental Workshop 3 / III puzzle pointers
Runescapes Elemental Workshop three has been released and is creating uproar on the forums, its a low level quest but the puzzle is far from low level, havent seen any threats to quit but im sure they will be coming or are there and I havent seen them yet.
Screams on the forums of Jagex's worst quest ever, ew3 puzzle is impossible, Jagex fail, and many more, most rants removed from the forum now but every post was an elemental workshop post, most just asking for help, some saying they are waiting for a quide.
Reading the forums I can imagine Jagex sitting back all contented that they have achieved what they wanted and created a very difficult puzzle, people have complained that the quests are too easy, too hard, too much combat, too high a skill requirment as you are aware whatever Jagex do there will always be complaints, some reasonable some unreasonable, we all like a challenge, whats the point of a game which is as easy as a walk in the park, the problem is getting the difficulty just right.
This puzzle will no doubt be impossible for some of the younger players this is where I believe the rule of not letting anyone play on your account should be a bit relaxed, not that anyone will know but its nice to know if you tell a friend that someone did something for you you wont get banned, I dont believe you would get a ban now with their more reasonable and relaxed attitude to the rules.
The puzzle in Mournings end part 2 was a total mystery to me, I couldnt get it so I used a guide, gthe only quest i have used a guide and only for the puzzle part, the puzzle for Elemental Workshop 3 was almost as hard but the fact that it was in a safe area made it a lot more approachable.
I am not going to give a list of how to do the puzzle but a few pointers to help you.
When you enter the body room and go down the stairs you have an option in the top left corner to change the view so you can see the whole puzzle, on the right hand side of the puzzle there are a couple of cogs and a counter, the first part of the puzzle is to get those cogs moving, there is a moving cog at the bottom centre of the puzzle and this drives the other cogs by sliding the other cogs to connect them together, this is done by pulling a lever, by carefully selecting a lever you will move all the cogs from that lever towards where the missing tile is.
The important thing is to observe the levels on the counter cogs, the cogs you can move to start with are low level so you can only drive the low level cog on the counter, this needs to be done in 50 moves so try and organise it that you move as many lose cogs as you can on each move towards the desired area, to start with you will be 2 or 3 moves away from completing before you run out of moves and are required to restart the level, it will be very frustrating to start with but you will get used to moving lots at the same time and you will complete it, when you complete the low level cog on the counter the floor drops and you can bring into play a double cog on the top right hand side, this double cog needs to coincide with the cog on the right hand counter, when this happens the counter will start to count down and you will have 50 moves to complete the other counter on the left hand side.
I am not sure if you can just do the left hand counter from a restart or if you need to do the right hand counter first, if you do the right hand counter after a restart you get the 50 from the main counter and 50 from that counter, once you have completed both counters you need to do the cog at the top centre, you need the 3 height cog that was realeased whe you did the left hand counter to set this one going, at one stage the counter jams at 62 and you have infinite moves to complete the tasks so the pressure is reduced silghtly.
After starting the top counter this lowers the centre column, you need to move all the cogs that can be moved around the column the hight of the cog must coincide with the level the cog is on the column, you will need to come out of full view to determine this, when all cogs are correctly positioned the top of the column will start to turn, this is charging the machine, after this has happened connect the cogs to the top centre cog to raise the centre column.
That is mission complete, put a primed bar in the door slot on the machine above, enter, pull the lever press the button and you have a pretty blue bar, lower the centre column again to charge and raise again to make a second bar.
To make the body body you need the book from the original elemental workshop in your inventory and use the bar on the anvil with a hammer in your inventory.
Jobs a goodun.
It took me hours to work it out without any hints, I wish you luck.
I will recheck this pointer again later in case I have missed stuff, its a bit complicated and my brain has seized.
